The Wilderness First Aid Course is a 16-hour course, broken up into two 8-hour days. CPR adds 1.5 hours to the first day of class. It is an indoor/outdoor course that blends informational lectures with practical, hands-on application of skills to teach you first aid for emergencies encountered in the wilderness. This course is meant for the outdoor enthusiast on day trips or short adventures where Emergency Medical Response would be expected within 8 hours.
The course is taught through the Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ESCI), which is associated with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American College of Emergency Physicians. The Gray Bearded Green Beret is a registered Education Center for ESCI.
Each student will be issued a Wilderness First Aid book for their own reference library, and students that complete the training will receive a digital course completion card. Each student will also receive CPR training and certification during this course.
CPR is a pre-requisite for this Course. You must complete the online version that is provided to you prior to the class, as well as the hands-on portion during the course to receive your CPR Certification, and your Wilderness First Aid certificate.
