Helikon Poncho US Model
Rainproof, quick-drying Helikon Poncho, made of rip-stop polyester. It has press studs which enable the wearer to make sleeves or connect two ponchos together.
The hood is fitted with a cord adjuster. The great advantage of this poncho is that it’s lightweight and small sized when folded – when compressed, the poncho fits into 14 x 22 cm/5.5” x 8.66” bag.
Helikon Ponchos are very versatile and provide a ton of ventilation while walking or rucking. Ponchos also work well for shelter and bedroll use in a minimal kit or bug-out bag.
Combine your poncho with a Paracord Hank, some #36 Bank Line prussiks and a handful of stakes for a fast-deploying and quick tear-down ridge line shelter system.
Normally available in Olive Green and US Woodland Camo.

I already owned a camo poncho purchased on Amazon last year. However, GB2 has recommended this particular Helikon model with gusto on multiple occasions. It’s easy to see why now. This poncho is significantly lighter than similar ponchos on Amazon. Yet, it’s durable with excellent rip-stop. When you’re hauling a bug-out bag around, every ounce counts. This lightweight poncho truly does hold-up. Thus far I’ve used it for its purpose in torrential downpours as well as used it as a tarp, ground cover, and even shelter. Not only does it do the job at a fraction of the price and weight of similar ponchos on the market, but it also seems to have ten times the durability. Five stars… two thumbs up.

On initial inspection fit and finish are excellent. I am 5’5” and the length and coverage is perfect. I have heard some taller fellows saying the length does not quite cover well enough, but not a problem for me. The Polish camo is close to woodland, with maybe more brown than green? I also have the swagman roll, which fits this perfectly as a liner.
