Hexa Fire Starter

Introducing the Hexa. We’ve been plotting this move for a while now. We got tired of waiting for someone else to do it. Our proprietary hexagonal Ferro profile means 6 flat sides; or more surface contact — and more surface contact means more molten ferrocerium thrown whenever you need it.

Ferrocerium Rods are a blend of pyrophoric metals including iron, cerium, and magnesium that ignite when rapidly exposed to oxygen in the air. Use the included striker, or even better, the spine of your GB2 Metsa Puukko or Mora Carbon Garberg to remove massive amounts of pyrophoric material with each strike. This will easily ignite properly processed tinder.

  • Flat profile design, for greater control and greater efficiency. Approx. 8mm of direct striker-contact on each side
  • 1/2″ X 6″ Long (12.5mm) thick Sånft-korr ferrocerium rod yields 20,000+ strikes
  • Works at any altitude, in any weather… even wet.
  • Includes full-grain leather lanyard for multiple securing options, and 6-function multi-tool scraper.

How long should this ferro rod last?

The Hexa Fire Starter should last up to 20,000 strikes.

How hot is the spark from one of these ferro rods?

The Hexa Fire Starter throws 5,500º F sparks.

Do you have to use a specialty tinder like charcloth for a ferro rod?

No, the hot spark from this rod will ignite most properly processed tinder resources.
