Description
GB2 Haversack w/Rip Stop Canvas and Adjustable Webbing Strap
The latest evolution in the quest to build the perfect haversack! Through continued field testing and student use, we noticed that students were using the Signal Joey as both a recognition signal so their partner could see them at a distance, and as a waypoint marker during land nav courses. They needed to either pull the Signal Joey out of their haversacks, or some would actually fashion a make-shift carrying strap on the Signal Joey and use it as a haversack with a less comfortable strap. It only made sense to combine these two products to make one outstanding haversack.
The new and improved GB2 Haversack (4.0) is made with 10.10 ounce ripstop Duck Canvas, which is the same canvas Army tents used to be made with, and is fully and evenly waxed. It’s 12″ X 14″ with the GB2 logo patch sewn onto the Haversack. The front side is an Olive ripstop waxed canvas, and the back panel is now a bright orange waxed ripstop canvas signal panel. We also made improvements to the adjustable strap, The 4.0 Model now comes with an improved easily adjustable strap that is more clean than the earlier version and much easier to adjust.
This is no ordinary haversack! We have also included a carrying handle and grommets so that it is optimized for use with improvised pack frames like the Roycraft and the Ladder Pack Frames. This greatly increases its versatility.

Love this, it’s just a tad thicker and heavier than the Pathfinder one. It will last longer than you will! I know mine will outlast me.

Definitely waterproofed. I melted excess wax with hair dryer and really let it soak in. Thankyou for an awesome haversack. Very thick. Should last a real, real long time.

my go-to bag already!

Good quality. It comes heavily waxed. Couple hours in the sun and it will all soak in. It will end up having that dark oil canvas look we all like.

This is a nice bag. The strap fits me perfectly. It is just the right size. A hatchet sleeve on the back would sweeten the deal.

The GB2 haversack is about the best I’ve run across. It’s ripstop so therefor sturdy, crossbody carry’s well and just feels good when paired with a water bottle carrier also crossbody carried on the other hip. I used to carry a day pack when I went camping but not anymore. This system is my walkabout gear once camp is established. Look at the rest, do your research and then buy this haversack, you won’t be sorry!

Innovative design which has been greatly improved since the first version. The consolidation of the signal joey is a major leap forward, reducing weight that could be better utilized elsewhere, while the incorporation of grommets for regressing with a bushcrafting mindset vastly facilitates constructing a Roycroft packframe.

I have the original haversack as well. This is a great upgrade.

I’ve taken it out a few times for a test drive and it’s definitely durable. Really looking forward to make a frame and use the eyelets. If I may be so bold as to make a suggestion, the top flap could be an extra pocket if there was some type of snap or hook and pile tape to close it up.

I had the version prior to this, which is great, but the new strap is much more efficient and now I only carry this in-lieu of the Haversack AND Joey.

Out of all the waxed canvas and/or oilskin haversack out there in the under $100 range, this one is, by far, the absolute best. The strap is longer than the ones on most competitor’s bags and the interior is surprisingly roomy. The lid also has a simple slip pocket of its own, which is especially convenient for holding thin, flat items like a bandana, maps, field guides, and journals. The back of the bag being made of bright orange cloth is also a stroke of genius, as that gives you the ability to use the bag for signaling, either by twirling it around in the air by the strap to signal others or by hanging in a tree to use as a marker to get back to camp; you can wander around and as long you keep that orange in sight you can walk straight back to it. That’s especially handy when you’ve been walking a while and just want to hang your bag up for a bit and stretch your legs while not carrying much.
Personally, this bag is great for bushcrafting, as a basic survival kit, or to augment a larger kit. Place just the items you have an immediate need for in the bag and go; no muss, no fuss. My GB2 haversack usually holds a Mora Kansbol, a 50′ or so bundle of paracord, a 1-liter water bottle nested with a glacier cup, a US pattern poncho, and a small fire kit. That leaves room enough leftover to pick up any interesting forage or tinder I might come across and doesn’t weigh me down.
