Collection: Wilderness Skills Course Gear

This collection features the most recommended products for the GB2 Wilderness Skills Course. Field-tested, and approved by a former Army Ranger and Green Beret.

Wilderness Survival Course Gear — The Official GB2 Gear List

The Gray Bearded Green Beret Wilderness Survival Skills Course is GB2's flagship multi-day wilderness training program. This collection contains every item on the official gear list, assembled by Special Forces veteran and survival instructor Joshua Enyart from the same practical standard applied to every GB2 course: gear that has been proven in real field conditions across the NE, SE, NW, and SW US regions where GB2 teaches.

Fire, Shelter, and Water — The Core Three

Fire ignition covers the Ferro Rod, UCO Stormproof Matches, GB2 Fresnel Lens, Tinder Tabs, and the Waxed Canvas Tinder Pouch for organized tinder management. Shelter is anchored by the Tentsmiths Oilskin Tarp and the GB2 Waxed Canvas Bed Sleeve — both field-proven across multiple seasons of GB2 live courses. The GB2 Waxed Canvas Haversack carries the full kit. Water is handled by the GB2 Klean Kanteen 40oz, the Canvas Water Bottle Carrier, and the Stainless Steel Kessel Bush Pot for open-fire treatment. The GB2 Canvas Versacloth earns its place across fire lay preparation, food prep, and improvised field tasks — students who bring it use it constantly; students who leave it out ask where to get one by day one.

Cutting Tools the Curriculum Requires

The Wilderness Skills Course includes primitive and traditional skills that require cutting tools. The gear list includes fixed-blade knives from LT Wright and Helle Norway — working knives selected for edge geometry and field-maintainability. Axes and saws from Hultafors handle the wood processing the course requires. The #36 Bank Line and Paracord Ridgeline Hank are on every course list because cordage-intensive primitive shelter work demands both utility cord and bank line — they are not substitutes for each other.

Navigation and First Aid — The Same Standard at Every GB2 Course

Navigation kit: Suunto MC-2, round military protractor, GB2 Ranger Pace Counter, Rite in the Rain notebook, and mechanical pencil. First aid standard: Gen 7 CAT tourniquet, 4 inch ETD, NAR Wound Packing Gauze, NAR Emergency Blanket, and the GB2 IFAK from North American Rescue. These are required, not optional. Students who skip the first aid kit get turned back at check-in.

The Wilderness Survival Skills Course runs in multiple regions throughout the year. Browse Gray Bearded Green Beret live training events to find the next course date in your region and use this collection to arrive equipped.
