The GB2 Wilderness Training Program is a program of courses designed to take a student with little to no experience in the wilderness and teach them the skills they can rely on in the forests and woodlands. 

The Wilderness Training Program includes the six most critical courses that anyone who ventures into the outdoors should have:

• Wilderness Survival Course 
• Bushcraft Skills Course
• Winter Survival Course
• Primitive Survival Course
• Master Navigator Course
• Wilderness First Responder Course

Wilderness Survival Certification

Become certified in Wilderness Survival! Students who successfully complete these six critical core courses will receive a special patch and certification from the Gray Bearded Green Beret. 

Flexible Scheduling and Self-Paced Learning

The program is self-paced, and includes 27 Training Days with considerable time to practice skills between courses. The courses do not have to be taken in any specific order, and they do not have to be taken within any time frame. Tuition paid for these courses does not expire.

Systematic Training Method

The GB2 System of Training™ recognizes that the majority of people are accustomed to modern living and very heavily reliant on gear. This training system seeks to meet a student where they are and take them through a progression of skills that allow them to be less reliant on gear, and more self- and nature-reliant with less and less gear. 

With the recommended progression, you will start by learning to use modern gear to provide for your needs at the foundational level. During intermediate-level courses you will learn to use more and more natural resources to provide for those same needs and be less reliant on modern gear. Finally, in the advanced-level course you will provide for those needs with nothing but the clothes on your back and natural resources, becoming 100% nature-reliant.

FAQs:

Is the GB2 Wilderness Training Bundle refundable?

No, due to the deep discount, and logistics involved in tracking you through your training for an unlimited length of time since it never expires, this GB2 Wilderness Training Program Bundle is 100% non-refundable. However, if you cannot make it to a scheduled course, we will work with you on crediting you forward to the next available course so long as you give us 30-days notice. If you do not show up for the start of a course and have not coordinated for a credit-forward, that portion of your bundle is considered used and you would need to purchase a ticket for that course separately in order to attend. The rest of your bundle would still be valid.

What happens if I do not complete a specific course?

If you are attending a training course and for whatever reason do not complete training, you will not receive credit for another attempt at that course. That portion of your bundle is considered used, and you would need to purchase another ticket for the individual course to attend. However, for medical emergencies or circumstances outside the student's control (as decided by Cadre and Staff), the student may be offered a credit forward into another course. This is at the sole discretion of the cadre. Lack of proficiency, poor physical fitness resulting in an inability to complete the course, training refusals (not participating in any portion of the course), integrity violations (cheating), or voluntarily withdrawing (quitting) from a course will not be considered for a credit forward into another course offering and may result in the removal of the student from the program (non-refundable).

Can these courses be taken on a pay-as-you-go basis?

Yes, all of these courses are available individually, but individual courses do not include this 25% bundle discount. The bundle discount cannot be applied to individual courses on the pay-as-you-go option. However, individual courses are tracked and applied towards a GB2 Certification in Wilderness Survival. 

Is there a recommended order for taking the courses?

Yes, by design you would take Wilderness Survival, Bushcraft, and then Primitive while taking the Winter Survival Course when it becomes available in that schedule. Master Navigator and WFR can also be taken at any time. However, it is self-paced and there are no requirements to take it in that order. Students should take available classes as their schedule permits.

Does my tuition credit for the GB2 Wilderness Training Program expire?

No, this is a self-paced program and you can take as long as you like to complete it.

What are the gear requirements for wilderness training?

For a comprehensive list, it's best to review the required packing lists for each course in the program. You will need those items for those courses, but they do not have to be purchased at once, in advance, and often gear you already own covers some of those requirements. The system is designed to have you use and get comfortable with the same gear throughout the training courses.

Is it easy to transition from this program to the GB2 Instructor Training Program?

Yes, simply notify us of your intentions and we will work out the details with you. You will receive credit for courses already paid for and already taken, and be sent a custom invoice for the two additional courses for that program (Train the Trainer and Final Instructor Eval).
