The Helle Arv Fixed Blade Knife features a 3.43" blade in Triple Laminated Stainless Steel with a polished mirror finish. It has a Scandinavian (Scandi) grind perfect for Bushcraft and carving tasks. The strong stick tang is wrapped entirely in a beautifully shaped handle constructed of stacked curly birch, stag horn, and leather that fits the hand perfectly.
Heirloom-quality Knife
The Arv knife is worthy of its name and heritage. In Norwegian, the name means inheritance – truly appropriate for a treasured item to be passed down for generations, just like the methods used in its making.
Beauty Meets Function
The Helle Arv is a versatile, lifelong companion that will handle cutting tasks with ease. It has a medium-sized handle made from carefully selected curly birch stacked together with leather and staghorn. Shaped by hand to a smooth finish suitable for small, medium, and large size hands.
Helle Triple Laminated Steel
The knife is equipped with a strong blade, made of extremely sharp laminated stainless steel. As the edge dulls with use, it can easily be brought back to hair-popping sharp in no time. Laminated stainless steels are prized for wood carving because of how sharp they get.
The strong stick tang reaches all the way through the handle and is pinned with a brass washer. Completely wrapping the tang with the stacked handle gives it even more strength.
The knife has a small but distinct finger guard and a medium size blade of the finest triple laminated Helle steel. Shaped with a scandi edge and sharpened by hand to a razor-sharp edge.
Traditional Brown Leather Sheath
Each knife comes with a Nordic-style sheath made from genuine high-quality leather with a belt loop for secure carry. It is small enough for those who like to carry the knife in a strap like a neck-knife.
Knife Maintenance
All knives have the potential to rust if not maintained, even Stainless Steel. The steel, wood, and leather should be treated occasionally to protect it, especially for storage.
We proudly recommend Smith's Leather Balm (Product of Maine, USA), a natural beeswax-based protectant that is great for leather, steel, and wood for all bushcraft tools.
If the blade and/or handle is dirty, wipe it clean with a soft cloth. Excess dirt and grime should be washed off with soap and water and then allow the knife and handle to dry completely. Once dry, the blade and handle should be treated with a wax protectant.
Never sharpen the knife on a dry stone. The excess heat created is not good for any blade and may damage the heat treat where the edge is the finest and most vulnerable.
The leather sheath should be protected with wax periodically to prevent it from drying and cracking. You shouldn't store a dirty or wet knife inside your sheath. If the sheath gets wet, allow it to dry slowly at room temperature. Never try to use heat to force it to dry faster as it can ruin the leather. Once dry, immediately protect it with a wax.
